How to Know if You Are Lifting Heavy Enough

Wondering if you're lifting heavy enough? Maybe you're new to lifting or maybe you've been lifting for a while but are wondering if you're "doing it correctly." 

Ladies!!! You simply do not realize how strong you are...

And yelling "just lift heavy" is a ๐‹๐€๐™๐˜ advice that explains nothingโฃ


To someone who is new or even been lifting for a while, it can still be confusing to hear the term and not know how to apply it to your own trainingโฃ

So let me give you some helpful hints so you will know if you're lifting heavy enough:โฃ

The last 2-3 reps should be hard…like REALLY REALLY hardโฃ

While you don’t need to "go to failure" on every set (that is just silly) you should not have enough in you to knock out 1-2 more reps while maintaining good form


Women are FAR stronger than they realize.

I’ve taken a lot of women through their first strength training sessions, and I usually hear them say something like “I had NO idea I was that strong”.


If you’ve been lifting for longer than 3 months, I’m confident you can goblet squat with a 25-30lb lb dumbbell at the very least.

Ending the set 

At the end of the set, you should have exerted enough effort for your heart to be pumping and thumping.


The talk test will tell you if you’re using a heavy enough weight.

If you can maintain a conversation while you’re performing the exercise, it’s nowhere near heavy enough.โฃ
