To someone who is new or even been lifting for a while, it can still be confusing to hear the term and not know how to apply it to your own trainingโฃ
So let me give you some helpful hints so you will know if you're lifting heavy enough:โฃ
While you don’t need to "go to failure" on every set (that is just silly) you should not have enough in you to knock out 1-2 more reps while maintaining good form
I’ve taken a lot of women through their first strength training sessions, and I usually hear them say something like “I had NO idea I was that strong”.
At the end of the set, you should have exerted enough effort for your heart to be pumping and thumping.
If you can maintain a conversation while you’re performing the exercise, it’s nowhere near heavy enough.โฃ
